Della Mae Statement
As my time with Della Mae comes to a pause I have started to reflect upon some of the amazing opportunities we've had as a band. The travel with the U.S. State Department, the GRAMMY nomination, the opportunities to play with and meet some of my musical heroes and of course the new perspectives and musical knowledge I've gained. If anything I hope that in ten years we will start to see hundreds more little girls flooding into the acoustic music scene vigorously writing and performing their own music (maybe even a few Della Mae covers!). The Bluegrass world has presented a fantastic and eye opening adventure for me. Not knowing much about its traditions at first I was fortunate to have some of the best teachers right there in Della Mae with me. I want to thank my band mates for being such an inspiration, it's been an honor to travel the world with such powerful and compassionate women. In the upcoming year I hope to continue making Bluegrass music as well as cultivating my own sound. I have been writing for a new album which will be coming out in 2017 and I hope to unveil it as my inspired and first truly solo endeavor. I want to thank all of the people who have supported me as an artist for the last 13 years and let all of you know....there's much more to come! Please come see me with Della Mae over the coming months, and keep your eye out for other small projects I've been working on in the New England area.
Below is the statement that Della Mae put out;
As we enter our sixth summer of festivals, with hundreds of days of touring under our belts, over thirty countries performed in, an IBMA award and a GRAMMY nomination, we have decided that it is finally time for us to take a break from the road. The opportunity to play for thousands of people worldwide has given us such a deep and intimate look at humanity, and we couldn't feel more blessed to have shared that time with you.
During this pause we are going to be taking time for other creative pursuits, family gatherings, hiking trips... you name it. We hope you will keep in touch with us individually to follow what creative endeavors this time will inspire. Until September 2016 we will be appearing at festivals and clubs all over the US and Europe, and have a few shows in the planning stages for February 2017. We look forward to seeing you all out on the road over the next few months - see below for our complete list of tour dates.
If we could personally thank each and every one of you for your support and love, we would. We have the most amazing and dedicated fans who have made our dreams possible in so many ways. So THANK YOU. From the bottom of our hearts. Love,
