BIO

Celia Woodsmith is a GRAMMY-nominated vocalist, songwriter, and percussionist creating music at the intersection of Americana, blues, bluegrass, and folk. With a voice described by The Bluegrass Situation as “bold and brazen,” Woodsmith brings raw, unfiltered energy to every performance—delivering songs that are steeped in grit, soul, and emotional honesty.

Originally trained in Anthropology at the University of Vermont, Celia received her true musical education on the road. After graduating, she hit the highways with her first project, Avi & Celia, touring the country and honing her craft through relentless performing and deep connection with audiences.

Since then, she has performed in over 30 countries, recorded 12 albums—including a solo release—and become the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the acclaimed all-female string band Della Mae. With Della Mae, she has earned a GRAMMY nomination, played iconic stages around the world, and helped redefine the boundaries of modern roots music. In addition to touring, writing and performing, she is an advocate and mentor for women of any age who want to explore their power in music.

Celia also fronts the Boston-based rock and roll band Say Darling, known for its gritty sound and two dynamic albums, and performs with Hickman, Anick & Woodsmith, a collaborative trio born of friendship and genre-bending creativity.

Whether she's playing guitar, washboard, or delivering a blistering vocal, Celia Woodsmith performs with fearless authenticity. Her music is both a tribute to tradition and a bold step forward—honest, powerful, and unmistakably her own.
